Jakarta (16/01) — PKS Faction Chairman of the House of Representatives Jazuli Juwaini supports the Israel-Hamas ceasefire which will officially come into effect on January 19 as an effort to permanently end Israeli aggression throughout the Palestinian territories. According to him, there have been too many civilian casualties, including elderly, women and children, killed by the Israeli occupation war machine.
According to a member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the ceasefire called for by the UN and various countries in the world must be the basic framework for permanently ending Israeli occupation throughout the Palestinian territories. Israel has colonized for decades and committed genocide in the past year against the Palestinian people, Israel’s actions must end since this peace agreement came into effect.
“Indonesia’s stance has been very clear since the beginning, urging Israel to stop all forms of aggression and occupation of the Palestinian territories. On the other hand, Indonesia fully supports the independence of the Palestinian people. This is our struggle which is a constitutional mandate, a mandate of the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung as well as a historical debt of the Indonesian nation,” said Jazuli.
Member of the Indonesian House of Representatives for the Banten Electoral District stated that our diplomacy should not stop with the ceasefire between Israel and Hamas, but the struggle for Palestinian independence as a sovereign state and to stop Israeli colonization must continue. The goal is for permanent peace to be realized in the land of Palestine and the Palestinian people to obtain their rights to life in their legitimate territory.
“What is happening in Gaza, Palestine, is not actually a conflict or war between two countries but a form of colonization in the modern era. The Palestinian people and their fighters are only defending their territory from colonization that has been forcibly taken for decades,” said Jazuli.
The Vice President of the World Muslim Parliamentary Members Forum asked the UN to ensure that the ceasefire is obeyed, Israel often violates agreements and betrays various peace resolutions.
Through this ceasefire, said Jazuli, we all hope that humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza can enter with the widest possible open access. We also hope that the process of reconstruction and rehabilitation of life in Gaza, Palestine can begin soon.
The Indonesian government, added Jazuli Juwaini, can also take a stronger role in mobilizing and coordinating humanitarian aid from within the country, which has received extraordinary enthusiasm. The government, as stated by President Prabowo, is also ready to send peacekeeping troops if requested by the UN.
“We hope that the UN and its peacekeeping instruments can truly realize peace in Gaza and oversee the reconstruction and rehabilitation process of Gaza as well as possible,” concluded Jazuli.
