The International Court of Justice (ICJ) on Friday (19/7/2024) issued a decision confirming that Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land for decades is illegal and must be ended as soon as possible. This decision by the UN’s highest court is the latest fatwa on the status of Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
Chairman of the PKS Fraction of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Jazuli Juwaini, supports the decision of the International Court and states that this decision is the beginning of victory for the Palestinian people. Jazuli requested that the UN follow up with this decision and immediately expel Israel from the Palestinian territories.
“We support the decision of the International Court of Justice. This decision indicates that world humanity and justice still exists and countries in the world are increasingly aware that Israel’s forced occupation and genocide are serious human rights violations and violations of basic human rights. said Jazuli.
Furthermore, the Vice President of the World Muslim Parliamentary Forum asked that the ICJ’s decision not stop at just a fatwa or call without law enforcement action. As the UN’s highest judicial institution, the ICJ’s decision must be enforced with concrete actions to end the Israeli occupation of all Palestinian territories.
“The majority of UN members actually fully support Palestine’s rights as a sovereign state as reflected in the vote at the UN General Assembly. The decision of the International Court of Justice is actually the humanitarian voice of the majority of world countries so there is no reason for the UN not to be able to take action against Israel to leave the territory Palestine,” stressed Jazuli.
This member of Commission I of the DPR hopes that the International Court’s decision will be guided as a permanent solution to end the genocide against the Palestinian people, the realization of an Independent Palestine, and a total end to Israeli colonialism.
“After that, Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli officials were immediately tried as war and humanitarian criminals,” concluded Jazuli
