Jakarta (17/04) — Chairman of the PKS faction, Jazuli Juwaini, regretted the escalation of the Middle East conflict which was heating up due to attacks by Iranian drones and ballistic missiles on Israeli (occupied) territory. It is feared that the attack will increase conflict tensions and political instability in the Middle East and the world. However, Jazuli firmly stated that the culprit was Israel.
“Israel’s colonialism and abuses against the Palestinian people have so far made the Middle East region volatile. The escalation has increased since October 7 2023, Israel’s brutal aggression against Gaza has killed more than 33,000 Palestinian civilians,” explained Jazuli.
Israel’s barbarism made other countries angry and criticized the Zionist entity. The reason is that Israel seems immune and untouchable by international law. Because so far it has received back up from big countries that behave hypocritically and have double standards such as the US, UK, Australia and Europe.
Various resolutions have been violated, including the latest UN Security Council ceasefire resolution, and the UN seems powerless to impose sanctions, while the world continues to witness in front of the eyes the civilian casualties of the Palestinian people falling in a heartbreaking manner. Thousands of children, women and the elderly were sadly killed by the Israeli war machine.
“Thus, attacks carried out by countries and pro-Palestinian resistance groups such as Lebanon, Syria, Yemen and Iran are only a response to Israel’s barbarity and arrogance. Moreover, Israel is also aggressively attacking the country’s sovereignty, especially in the case of Iran’s retaliation. ” he stressed.
*Anti War, Pro Peace, Love Independence*
According to this member of Commission I of the DPR, all civilized countries, including Indonesia, highly value world peace. For Indonesia, world peace is a constitutional mandate and the goal of the state.
“With this position, Indonesia does not approve of all forms of war and the deployment of weapons because it only causes civilian casualties and threatens world peace. But at the same time Indonesia is anti-colonial like Israel, on the contrary supports all efforts to realize the independence of the Palestinian people,” he stressed.
Therefore, the Vice President of the World Muslim Parliamentary Forum asked all countries and world bodies such as the UN to act firmly, not be hypocritical and have double standards.
If they firmly condemn Iran’s attack on Israel which will cause an escalation of the conflict in the Middle East, then they should also firmly stop the barbarity of the Israeli occupation of Palestine at all costs and efforts. “Because once again, Israel is the culprit of Middle East instability and a threat to world peace,” concluded Jazuli.
Jazuli hopes that after Iran’s attack on Israel, Indonesia will propose a proposal to the UN to take a firm stance in stopping Israel’s colonization and massacre of Palestinians and realizing permanent peace until the formation of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state.
