Jakarta (14/05) — Israel approved the construction of 4,427 new homes in the occupied West Bank. Member of Commission I of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) Sukamta said that Israel continues to commit the crime of annexing the territory of the Palestinian state because there are no sanctions from countries and the United Nations.
“Israel’s crimes against Palestine continue as a result of the absence of strict sanctions from the United Nations and the international community. The difference in attitudes is clearly visible from the international sanctions against Russia. Ukraine, which is called a friend, continues to be supported, Russia as an occupier is given various strict sanctions.
The country’s double standards “The countries in the world are shameful and show that politics and economics are above humanity. Even though the Israeli occupation of Palestine is longer and more severe in terms of annexation of territories, the number of victims of the Palestinian people is compared to what happened to Ukraine.”
The Deputy Chair of the PKS Faction then gave advice to the Indonesian government in the Palestinian conflict and Indonesia’s position in world geopolitics.
“We Indonesia, as a country that opposes colonialism in the world, needs to take short-term and long-term strategic steps. Indonesia’s position which is now leading the G-20 has only become a good boy, the organizer of G-20 activities. Indonesia has not become a real leader who can suppress and directing other developed and developing countries in Indonesia’s international agenda, especially in Palestine.”
“I encourage short-term steps for Indonesia to carry out diplomacy to pressure Israel and even encourage the United Nations to send peacekeepers to Palestine and impose strict sanctions on Israel. The long-term step is to strengthen Indonesia’s economy, technology and defense so that developed countries do not underestimate Indonesia,” suggested Chairman of the Overseas Development and Development Division of the PKS DPP.
The Israeli conflict continues to heat up as the world focuses on the Ukraine-Russia conflict. Not long ago there was the shooting of Al Jazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh by Israeli forces. Last month of Ramadan, Palestinian Muslims who were praying at the Al Aqsa mosque were attacked by Israeli police, causing dozens of injuries.
