Jakarta (29/10) — The Chairman of PKS Faction in the Indonesia’s House of Legislative condemned the statement made by the French President, Emannuel Macron, following his support of a blasphemous carricature of the Prophet Mohammad.

As a follow up, the PKS faction has also sent a formal letter protesting the President through the French embassy at Jakarta. In addition, the PKS faction also backed the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s recent move to summon the French ambassador conveying the criticism against the French President’s statement.

“The PKS faction strongly denounce the French President’s comments that encourages blasphemy against Prophet Mohammad. Therefore, we have sent a formal letter to denounce his controversial remarks,” said
Jazuli.

Jazuli Juwaini, who is also the deputy chairman of the International Islamic Forum of Parliamentarians, mentioned that there is a growing rift between the French and the Moslem world, while many of them called for a boycott of French products. He also appreciates the Indonesian Foreign Ministry’s step to call the French ambassador.

“The French President’s remarks could disturb the world’s peace at large, since it reflected an act of irresponsibility and ignorance. Peace could only be preserved where there is a mutual respect and understanding of every belief, instead of blasphemy and profanity to the Prophet,” stated Jazuli.
As a big country, France should be a role model to create a world peace, based on the respect and tolerance to every religion.
